Palos Verdes VS Corona del Mar Sea Kings
The Corona del Mar Sea Kings continue to dominate any competition in their path, crushing Palos Verdes 41-7 in a non-conference home win.
First things first, CdM’s Junior quarterback David Rasor continues to shine; throwing for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns on 14 completed pass attempts— with one rushing TD just for good measure. He makes his case for Sunset League Player of the Year with 14 total TDs in 3 games— all of which he has not played the entire game because of precautionary substitutions.
Senior wide receiver Max Lane had the game of his life Friday night, catching 4 passes for 131 yards and touted a touchdown hat-trick. Senior WR John Tipton, who had 3 TDs last week against Paramount, added another to the tally with a 7-yard TD reception courtesy of Kaleb Annett.
The Sea Kings’ defense continues to amaze, and this time it was Senior defensive back Jake Simkin stepping up with 3 passes defended and a tackle.
“We watched a lot of film,” Simkin said. “He likes to stare down his receivers a lot which makes it easy. We were really locked in— calling out plays when they were getting in formation.”
Other notable stats from the CdM defense; Senior linebacker Jaden Rosenhain ended the day with a sack and a fumble recovery, and Junior CB Oliver Alaya came away with an interception on the first drive of the game. He would return the ball to the P.V. 1-yard line to set up a David Rasor rushing TD.
The Sea Kings end week four averaging 45 points a game, and will need to sustain that production at San Clemente High School next Friday, Sept. 10.
